Vintage Trail Ride and BBQ
Sunday, 18 March 2012

The sun was out and the 'bidgee was flowing strong as we left the casurinas at Uriarra and climbed out of the valley to Fairlight and on to Sawyers Gully Rd.
The road was in good condition considering the recent weather events, a few erosion lines, bigger puddles and a few "spuds" sticking up to awaken any sticky sanctions.
The overnight rain had kept the dust down. We met Baz from Yass along the way, he was on his unique XS650 dirt road tourer. It was great to hear the DT's, singles, the lone boxer and Mick Williams' zippy DKW 125.

We re-grouped before we tackled Doctors Flat and waited for Lou and Ivan in the back-up vehicle - they even managed to squeeze in bit of mushrooming! It was an easy weekend for them, with no trailer trash to collect.

Doctor's Flat Rd is a bit rougher than Sawyers Gully, it has 3 gates to open and close and there is usually a splash of some sort along the way.
The road provides glimpses of Canberra from Brindabella National Park. It was in good condition all things considered, and the more tar oriented bikes coped fine.
The bikes lifted some water out of the stream and negotiated the minor subsidence with aplomb. Before we knew it, we were back at Uriarra Crossing with cup of tea and sausage in hand (thank you Ian and Jen).
