Well, this year the VVC had at least 20 members to this very community minded ride. It was the 28th year of the Toy Run and very well organised. Many people gathered from around 8.30 for a BBQ breakfast. By 10 am the long procession left Old Parliament House with some AFP Motorcycle Police in control. We headed to Phillip in the Bus lane and had minimum delays to the Garema Place destination.

Peter Major estimates that the ACT motorcycling community had around 1000 bikes on the ride, and many supporters arriving by other means to swell the numbers at the Garema Place gathering. This year the ride was led by Senator Kate Lundy, Ms Mary Porter MLA representing the Chief Minister, and Senator Gary Humphries. Also in the lead group was Ms Meredith Hunter MLA Parliamentary Convenor of the Greensand Mr Brendan Smyth MLA Deputy Opposition leader.

Peter Major and the Pollies said a few wise words on the occasion and attendees were generous in the red buckets filling. Over $5,000 in cash was raised and a mountain of presents was obvious.

Well done all of our members who participated in this Community effort. We settled into enjoying the atmosphere of the day and had a gander at a few of the special bikes there. Our VVC bikes drew much attention.

Robbo's had a ride day on so many of the members hightailed it to Fyshwick around midday. For the rest of us it was all over as we "had to do something else for the rest of the day". We had a good time, it was for a good cause, there were no causalities, so we felt good. Best Regards and have a safe Christmas 2009. See everyone in 2010.
