ANNUAL PRESENTATION DINNER
Saturday, 29 August 2009

Saturday night marked the celebration of our club's motorcycling activities for 2008/2009. The Canberra Club once again put on a lovely meal for around 60 members, family and friends, and the drinks and conversation flowed freely throughout the evening.

The highlight of the event was of course the awards presentation, with the general category winners this year receiving a beautifully engraved wine glass.

Col Hill was awarded the Clubman of the Year perpetual trophy for his generous contribution to the club during the year. Col also received the perpetual Morisset Trophy, attending 22 out of the 26 runs. Congratulations Col.

For those newer members, the Morisset Trophy is awarded for the member who participates the most in our club rides and is judged via a point scoring system. Trophies are awarded in seven 'age' categories according to the following formulae:

'Modern' Class for machines up to 15 years old (1994-2009) = 1 point
'Cherished' Class for machines from 16-29 years old (1980-1993) = 2 points
'Post Classic' Class for machines 1962 to 30 years old (1962-1979) = 3 points
'Postwar Classic' for machines made from 1946 to 1961= 4 points
'Prewar Classic' for machines made from 1931 to 1945= 5 points
'Vintage' for machines made from 1919 to 1930= 6 points
'Veteran' for machines made up to the end of 1918= 7 points
Back-up trailer/vehicle= 5 points
Static Display (ie Shannons, Wheels, Robbos, Marques)= 2 points

You will note that the points are graded to acknowledge the difficulty of keeping the older bikes on the road and to encourage them out. Engraved wine glasses are presented to each place-getter as well. The trophies are a reward for participation in club rides, as we are keen to encourage members to ride their bikes.
