Well it was a great roll up for the hottest day of the year. Around 25 arrived at the club to come along on the short ride of the year. I had managed to organise a visit to the Historic Railway Museum so we headed off toward Adelaide Avenue, Cotter Road, Coppins then back along Parkes Way, through Fyshwick returning to Kingston and the Museum.

Dave Carroll greeted us there and gave us the 'Royal Tour'. We started at the Museum shed with a cold drink and reviewed the original rail line through Canberra. The Civic line ran right up to where the Chess Pit is in Garema Place now. Then it was through the NSW carriages and sleepers, a peek into the Rail Motor and then the "shed"! In the shed are all the best bits of course and Dave explained the history of the two steam engines and the hard work that goes into their restoration. Some of us even got up to the plate and toyed with the controls.

Back into the heat again, we checked out the newest steam rebuild (see photos) and bid Dave a fond farewell. But the day wasn't over as Don and Garry had fired up the BBQ back at the club and we all enjoyed a snag and a coldie. The snags were a ripper thanks Don, even the lovely barmaid enjoyed them.

Thanks to Aki for doing back-up, I think we only had one casualty: Dick Stubbs had a flat tyre, but it was only flat on the bottom.
