Route: From Manuka along Canberra
Ave, through Oaks Estate, Pialligo Ave, Sutton
Rd, Norton Rd,
Bungendore Rd
via Smiths Gap, through to Bungendore. Total: 44km
No breakdowns! - although Wayne
Harris took a while to get started, and John Waldron had to stop and do a quick
clutch adjustment shortly after the start.
Peter Angove rode in from Gundaroo
(in a big cloud of smoke) on his 1936 Harley outfit, which had been unused for
many months (years?). He started with everyone else, but I didn’t see him when
I arrived at Bungendore in the backup vehicle.
At Bungendore, most people opted
for one of the many varieties of hot pies at the pie shop, while some others
decided that the pub needed some support as well!
There was some rain around 1pm.
Most riders had left Bungendore by 12:30pm - some may have been caught by the
rain on their way home.
Machine count: 43 bikes and one 1928 Dodge Sedan:
9x Triumphs, 8x Hondas, 5x Suzukis, 4x Nortons, 4x Indians,
3x Harleys, 3x Kawasakis, 2x BSAs,
1x Ariel, 1x BMW, 1x Ducati, 1x Matchless, 1x Moto Guzzi, and one 1928 Dodge
Sedan.
