NOT OUT OF SIGHT OF BLACK MOUNTAIN RUN

Around forty riders turned out for this shorter run, five on
modern bikes, and the rest on a good selection of older bikes around half of
which were more than fifty years old. The route for the run was something of an
impromptu affair, the outward leg going past Black Mountain via William Hovel
and Coppins Crossing to Uriarra Crossing picnic area where most of us
regrouped. Others continued on via the Cotter while the rest of us retraced our
steps back along Uriarra Road to the Cotter Road and then over Scrivener Dam to
Black Mountain Peninsula for a BBQ lunch.
This normally short and casual run was a little longer than
usual this year and yes we were briefly ‘out of sight of Black Mt.’ but it gave
Dean and Cheryl doing BBQ trailer duties time to organize lunch. I must say I
enjoyed a better than average sausage, my commiserations to previous cooks.
Ian Brock together with Gerry Hampson provided the backup
trailer service and I believe there were no breakdowns.
Well that’s the end of this write up, as short as the riders
briefing that managed to confuse and lose so many!
